Happy Birthday, My Precious Parker!

Parker is ONE!

Never did I know how emotional birthdays would be. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have such an amazing daughter. Kris and I often talk about how it seems like life can’t get better but every single day Parker does something that’s more precious than the day before. We relish in the fact that she is our daughter, forever, and that we get to watch her laugh, learn, and play her way through life. I’m not going to lie—I had a few tears yesterday knowing that my baby is now one. I’ve savored every moment with Parker but it’s still sad to see how fast the first year flew by. On the other hand though, I’m thrilled to see what’s on the road ahead!

Enough with the sappy stuff…onto what’s been going on with the little miss this past month.

Parker mimics everything. We blow kisses, she blows kisses. We cough, she coughs. We clap, she claps. You get the idea. She is quite the mobile little thing. Crawling is still her primary mode of transportation but she likes to walk to me and Kris, from one toy to the next, and to Sydney. Parker also loves when we hold her hand and let her walk with us. She is a pro at climbing up stairs and she loves loves loves to jump. We lay on the couch with her, she stands up, crouches down, then jumps. We catch her and fly her down to the ground :)

Peek-a-boo has been taken to a whole new level. Parker now plays with us. She covers her head with her shirt or a blanket, pulls it down, and laughs when Kris and I cry “Peek-a-boo!” She is a big helper when it comes to getting dressed—she pushes her arms through sleeves and her legs through pants. She’s also now able to take her pants off by herself. I’ve always wondered why some parents let their kids run around half naked and now I realize why—sometimes your baby may decide that clothes are not on the days agenda!

Parker loves my belly. She will pull up my shirt and laugh her little head off. I try to tell her that my stomach was much more toned in my pre-pregnancy days but she doesn’t believe it. I am sort of offended! We have made MAJOR sleep progress this month. And no, it was nothing that Kris and I did. Parker took the lead herself as we wanted her to. I’ll save the details for another blog post though.

This past weekend we spent our time in Frankenmuth, Michigan’s Little Bavaria, celebrating Parker’s birthday as a family. It was SO nice to get away. I think that I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m a huge fan of taking family getaways. Even if it’s something like we did, going an hour out of town and staying the night, it’s so worth it to be away from the laundry, the dishes, and the every day-ness of life. I'll post all about our trip in the next couple of days!

And one more thing…MY SISTER IS ENGAGED!!!! I am over the moon excited! Congrats to Lindsey and Jes!
