Eek, my baby is almost 2 whole years old!

This month we've experience napping strikes mixed with a bit of attitude.  "No nap, mommy.  I said, no nap."

I find it highly suspect that girlfriend naps 2 hours at daycare but refuses to go down at home.

So a noon nap is sometimes replaced with a 4pm pass out which leads to her not wanting to go to bed at bedtime.  Of course.

Guess I don't need to stress as much as I thought over the logistics of trying to lay Parker down once Teagan arrives.

Parker's on a mild eating strike too.  I have a better chance learning how to be a trapeze artist than I do getting this girl to eat veggies.  Hiding them in food no longer works--she's on to me.  But once again, daycare peer pressure gets the best of her and there's not stopping the amount of mixed veggies, carrots, and green beans that she will consumes.

Song singing has been loads of fun this month.  Parker's latest jams include Ring Around the Rosie, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle and Flo Rida's Whistle Baby song.  The kid is obsessed with babies, what can I say.

When Parker wants something now she's went from saying what it is (water, milk, toy) to saying "I need (insert on of the million things she desperately needs).  She's having a lot of fun with pretend play.  When her food is too hot I put it in the freezer. In turn, when Parker gives Sydney carrots as a treat (why I buy organic carrots when only the dog eats them is beyond me) sometimes they're "too cold" and get placed in the wine cabinet to cool down.  We didn't realize Parker was doing this until weeks after the fact.  Wonder what other old food is hiding around the house.

Daycare is still going awesome.  Earlier this month Parker graduated to Toddler II a full seven months early.  While her previous class certainly had loads of learning and activities this new class is full on preschool.  I'm talking language arts, science, math, lots of cool things.  The teachers thought Parker would be better stimulated in the next class so while I'm glad she's learning at the next level I'm still coping with the fact that she's the little munchkin in a room full of big kids.

One plus of the big kids is that many of them are potty trained.  Parker now goes potty at school too.  I'll bite the potty training bullet at home once we get adjusted to Teagan even though I know all those dry diapers and going on the potty have been our sign for months that she's ready to nix the cloth.

Parker counts in the teens, says cute things like "so (de)licious" and "mommy so pretty," and talks about her friends all the time.  "C my friend.  I give C hugs.  I give C kiss," she says daily of her daycare BF.

Parker's very patricular with things this month.  Like when she wants a "water cup" is must be a specific non-sippy cup.  Or else.  She likes Sydney to be right next to her when we read books.  For the first time in her life she likes stuffed animals.  Zippers present no challenge to zip up and unzip and she's got the knack of opening and applying my lip gloss.

Perhaps the coolest thing this month was watching Parker comfort her teddy bear.  "It's okay, teddy bear.  Parker right here, teddy bear," as she gently caressed and held him.  It's moments like this when you know you're doing something right. We've seen a lot of tender care with Sydney and her baby dolls for quite some time but to hear her repeatedly comfort her teddy was something extra special.

Baby wearing trial run.  She's basically got it.

Onto the big 2nd birthday!

39 Weeks

Yeppers, still pregnant :)

39 week bare belly with Teagan...

...and 39 week bare belly with Parker.  My belly seems a tad bigger this go around and a bit lower but for the most part it's about the same don't you think?

How far along: 39 weeks 1 day.

Total weight gain: 134lbs, up almost 22lbs.

Maternity Clothes: the recently fabulous fall weather has thrown my wardrobe for a loop but I'm making what I have work for now.  I have been buying really cute, comfy clothes to wear after baby is here.

Movement: baby still enjoys squeezing my bladder and kicking my ribs.

Food Cravings: still not very hungry.

Sleep: I'm back to peeing every couple hours again but other than that I'm out all night.  I actually made it to bed early last night, around 1030pm, and I felt so well rested today.  Though I'm not used to all that sleep so I was up at 6am and couldn't fall back asleep.  Of course that's how it's gotta be.

Milestones: still packing on the pounds and should clock in right around 7lbs at this point

Best moment of the week: my relaxing midwife appointment today. Baby's heart rate was a bit lower than normal so off to 20 minute monitoring I went.  I had a comfy leather recliner, propped my feet up, and watched old episodes of The Office. Heavenly.  No worries, baby's heart rate popped right back up.  Sleeping in was on her agenda this morning so it made her heart rate lower.  I hope she doesn't think that sleeping in is a cause for concern.  I would like to keep that up outside the womb.

Random

-I finally packed my hospital bag.  Yep, a week before my due date.

-My Breast Friend and I are not in fact breast friends.  I didn't see the "do not dry" instructions on the cover until it was too late.  A new cover will be at my doorstep today. And bytheway MBF, it's 2012.  It's either tumble dry low or dry clean.  Do no dry is not an option in this house.
-the master bath is almost done! Weeeee! Tile is down and grouted, the granite counters should be ready tomorrow, a few odds and ends later and it's basically useable again.  We do need to get a quote on a frameless shower door and get that installed in the very near future.  So it will be a showerless bathroom for the next couple weeks but I finally have my soaking tub back in action.
-work seems to have blocked Blogger.  I'm hoping this issue resolves itself during my four month mat leave.
-tomorrow is my last day of work until January.  Um, yay! Snuggle time with my two pumpkins, here I come!
-starting at 40w I will try natural induction methods.  Pineapple core, red raspberry leaf tea. dancing...

...maybe some manual labor....

...and if that doesn't work I'll try summoning the Gods.

38 weeks

I've been MAI trying to figure out if I'm actually in labor.

Saturday: felt like a balloon popped inside me.

Sunday: felt like a balloon pooped inside me. It was not my water breaking like I suspected. I may actually have a busted balloon floating around inside of me.

Tuesday: timeable contractions for 4 hours, 1 1/2 minutes long every 3 to 5 minutes apart. No baby.

Wednesday: timeable contractions for 10 hours, 1 1/2 minutes long every 3 to 5 minutes apart. Warranted a phone call to my dad who drove 5 hours from NE Ohio to watch Parker. No baby.

Thursday: woken up every hour while sleeping with contractions. No baby.

Friday: no contractions. I skip getting checked so no news of progress at my midwife appointment today.

Disappointed pregnant chic.

With a huge, oddly shaped belly.

I always assumed I'm go late again like I did with Parker but now these contractions have me wondering when I'll get to hold my little baby. It might be sooner than I thought--please be true!

How far along: 38 1/2 weeks.

Total weight gain: 133lbs, up almost 21lbs.

Maternity Clothes: still on my nice little rotation of larger than normal clothes.

Movement: slow movements, lots of jabs to the ribs. I have a feeling that this pumpkin is a wee bit bigger than Parker was, either that or a non-anterior placenta is no joke.

Food Cravings: My appetite is shot. If I ever do get the urge to eat I only want very basic things. Think grilled cheese and boxed mac and cheese (Annie's White Cheddar shells are to die for). It's like I'm back in 1st tri all over again.

Sleep: pretty awesome. I'm up only one or twice a night to pee and Parker's only up once a night too. Now only if i could get Kris to quit snoring ;)

Milestones: baby's lungs are still maturing and her brain and nerve functions are improving every day.

Best moment of the week: a short work week thanks to false labor. Okay by me.

Happy weekend!

Silly words

Parker's pronounciation is pretty dead on with most words. Exceptions include Elmo Bach (granola bar...no clue), shzwezsadaffadf (squirrel, sounds just like random letters thrown together) and de-gas (sunglasses). So if you're ever around Parker and happen to run into a granola bar eating, sunglass wearing squirrel you will now know exactly what she's talking about.

Parker has her own pair of sunglasses but prefers to wear mine.

You know, because it's "too sunny" in the house.

37 Weeks

I live in comfy dresses now even though they give me the going-to-pop-any-day-now look.

There, that's better.

How far along: 37 1/2 weeks. Full term! Baby could come any day now, though I'm not betting on it being anytime soon. I'm still feeling September 30th as the big day.

Total weight gain: 133lbs, up almost 21lbs.

Maternity Clothes: see above :)

Movement: my ribs must be padded with down feathers seeing how often this pumpkin likes to cuddle up with them. I'm still feeling a lot of movement though it's slowed way down from what it used to be. It's getting a little cramped in there.

Food Cravings: looking forward to coming home to chili in the crockpot. Nice, hearty fall meal.

Sleep: the not being able to breath thing is putting a wrench in my sleep schedule but I'm still getting a decent amount of shut eye.

Milestones: all systems are ready to go. Until she makes her big appearance she will keep on perfecting her breathing, sleeping, and sucking skills.

Best moment of the week: finally feeling prepared to meet baby. My mile long list is dwindling and I can confidentially say that I'm ready for all the wonderfulness and craziness that 2 under 2 will bring. Let's get this show on the road already.

Random:
I came back with all sort of goodies from my midwife appointment this morning:
-my MW verified that baby is in fact super duper low, hence the feeling like I'm going to give birth in a moments notice.
-my MW birthed all three of her children at 41w3d. I wonder if baby will be just as late as Parker?
-we went over my birth plan and she's pumped that I'm delivering naturally again. So nice to have supportive MWs helping me through labor and delivery.
-after months of waiting for my belly to get big enough I was finally able to put some of those photo opp pins to good use :)

Happy Friday!

Thankful Thursday

The combination of feeling like I'm about to birth this baby with every step I take, my lungs being compressed to the point where I'm in dire need of an oxygen tank, and the easiest task making me insanely winded has me in a crabby mood. Enter Thankful Thursday.

Belly barring thug toddlers make me smile.

As does Daddy/daughter love.

Major framing potential right there.

I'm so ready for this weekend. Saturday morning PSL's have been made even sweeter with yesterdays $10 for $5 Starbucks Living Social deal, the Arts and Apples festival is this weekend, and I'll have loads of time to chill out and relax. Come on, Friday!
